Event Focus

Delivering Europe's Future Infrastructure Needs In A New Economic Environment

European and international governments have made infrastructure investment a top priority as they seek to stimulate economic growth, maintain economic competitiveness with emerging markets and provide their citizens with modern, integrated transport networks, new sources of energy and improved environmental services. However, infrastructure also requires huge, long-term capital expenditure at a time when governments have been issuing more debt to mitigate the effects of the global financial crisis.

InfraWeek – New For 2010
InfraWeek is the successor to our European PPP Infrastructure Finance Forum which was launched in 2003 and hosted in London, Lisbon, Barcelona and Venice. InfraWeek 2010 will debate the infrastructure asset class as it enters a new era utilizing public and private funding models – including PPPs – that will enable projects to be delivered in the future.

PPPs are a tried and tested way of developing public infrastructure but future funding requirements mean that new ways of harnessing private capital have to be found. Pension funds, for example, have the capital and capability required to invest in infrastructure. They will undoubtedly have a significant role to play in delivering projects. Governments may also become sellers of public assets as well as providers of new ones. This creates another large-scale opportunity for institutional capital. As these new concepts take shape, infrastructure developers, equity investors and financiers will need to adapt their strategies to be a part of the new phase of infrastructure investing.

InfraWeek – A Must-Attend Industry Event
As the dust begins to settle after the financial crisis the infrastructure industry is entering a new era. Infra-Week will bring together the industry’s leading developers, investors and government agencies; this is the one event you need to attend in Europe in 2010 to be a part of this debate and understand what it means for your business.
