Alastair Watson

Commercial Director

Catalyst Lend Lease

Alastair is Commercial Director of Catalyst Lend Lease, the UK PPP business owned by Lend Lease. The Catalyst Lend Lease portfolio consists of more than 20 project assets for which the company has raised in excess of GBP2.1bn of external debt finance. The company is bidding actively across a range of sectors including Education, Waste and Social Housing. Lend Lease operates an integrated model with the capability for managing design and construction, delivering lifecycle and facilities management services, and SPV management services in-house.

Alastair and his commercial team at Catalyst Lend Lease are responsible for ensuring that the company achieves an appropriate balance between risk and reward on projects, and they lead on all financial and legal aspects of bidding. The team recently closed the first phase of the Council's GBP1.2bn Birmingham Building Schools for the Future programme and is active on various PFI bids including many in the waste sector.

Previously Alastair was Project Finance Director at Land Securities Trillium where he was part of the origination team that moved from AMEC Project Investments in November 2007. Before that Alastair worked as a financial adviser to public sector and private sector clients at Grant Thornton, advising on a wide range of transactions that included Education, Health, Leisure, Police, Fire, Courts and Prisons schemes.

Alastair is a qualified accountant who trained at the National Audit Office. At the NAO he conducted financial audits of Government departments, agencies and NDPBs and was involved in the value for money investigations of flagship PPP projects (eg sale of the Dome, LUL PPP, and the privatisation of NATS).
